Frequently asked questions
How do I know what size wetsuit I need to hire?
Once you have selected the length of time that you wish to hire your wetsuit; either a week or a month, look at the wetsuit sizing chart. This will show the best size suit for your height and weight.
Remember that a wetsuit needs to be a snug fit and tight to the body. If it is too loose and baggy it will not do its job and will not perform in the water. The suit will feel very tight at first, especially if you have never worn one before. The suit will give in the water.
What do I do before I return the wetsuit?
Before you return the wetsuit it is important to rinse the suit out with fresh water, naturally dry it and turn the wetsuit inside out. Please return the wetsuit with the returns form in the addressed bag enclosed; you will need to pay return postage. We would recommend recorded delivery as the return is the responsibility of the hirer.
How long can I keep the wetsuit for?
We will dispatch the suit to you in good time for the start of your hire period. If the wetsuit is not returned before the end of your wetsuit hire period, you will automatically be charged for an extra weeks hire. This will continue until the wetsuit is returned to the address provided, recorded delivery.
What if I would like to purchase my suit at the end of the hire period?
Just send us an e-mail and we will let you know if this is possible and what the additional charge will be.
Other retailers offer cheaper hire?
Some retailers do offer a slightly cheaper hire service; others offer a more expensive service. We are a mid range hire service, however our suits are high quality and brand new for this season. We also pride ourselves on our top class customer service not always provided by other sites
Why should I use a Tri Specific Wetsuit?
A triathlon wetsuit is designed for swimming. Do not be tempted to hire a surfing or water-skiing wetsuit; they do not do the same job! The flexibility around the arms of a tri-specific suit is incredible and will not impede your swimming. A triathlon wetsuit also fits extremely closely! Novice's initial reaction when putting their wetsuit on is that it is too tight on the chest. Any tightness will immediately disappear as soon as you enter the water. If the wetsuit is comfortable on the land then the chances are that it is too big for you and will scoop up water when you start to swim. Practising in a wetsuit in the weeks prior to the race is very important and will allay any fears you may have. Hiring a wetsuit in advance of the event will allow you time to practise in it.
Do I need a wetsuit?
Wetsuits are encouraged in nearly all open water swims. It will not only keep you warm but it will also help you swim faster. A wetsuit provides you with extra buoyancy across the backside and down the back of your thighs. This keeps you higher in the water...the higher you are the faster you swim. It will aid your swim immensely and help if you start to tire.
